Ein Bissen Anomalie
Experiencing Eating Disorders Empathically. I sought to challenge the conventional approach to food consumption while introducing a playful yet reflective dimension to the act of eating. It's widely acknowledged that eating is a source of pleasure, yet there's a sobering reality: many individuals struggle with this basic function.
Eating disorders afflict numerous people, often met with a lack of comprehension and thus inadequate support. Through creating a deliberate dining experience, guests are invited to empathize with this illness. Utensils and tableware intentionally made difficult to use offer a firsthand encounter with the challenges of eating disorders.
Individuals grappling with mental or physical eating disorders deserve our attention, care, understanding, and support. Thus, I've crafted a set of crockery and cutlery that veers from its conventional function, presenting an unconventional form and use that reignites the empathy and comprehension often dulled or overlooked in daily use.
By enabling individuals to navigate the dysfunctional aspects of everyday eating in an unconventional manner, 'Ein Bissen Anomalie,' or 'A Bite of Anomaly,' as the name suggests, aims to illuminate and gradually realign the divergent behaviors associated with eating disorders.
